Upon spring cleaning last week, my husband discovered an old family recipe book full of cooking treasures! He chose this wonderful marinara sauce recipe his dad used to cook when he was young. It was a very intricate recipe that took nearly 5 hours to cook - and that was without a crockpot!
Wonderful aromas filled the house and brought back great memories for my husband. He told us stories of how much his dad enjoyed cooking - and now my husband can pass on those wonderful traditions and memories to our family.....
He ended up canning several batches of sauce and generously offered it to family and friends!
So far we've made spaghetti of course, and today I used it for a penne pasta bake with chicken, mushrooms, basil and asiago cheese - it's a very versatile sauce - and very very yummy indeed!

Wow it looks absolutely delicious! The sauce looks so thick! I love how you jarred them.
They do look so beautiful in their jars!
Have you thought about putting together a book of those family recipes? Would make a great gift for relatives or for sale!
Teresa that's a great idea! Do you mean actually saving the original and making a book of those, or typing them up and making a new book of old recipes? Either way what an awesome gift idea that would be! Thank you!
